🌿 Welcome to the first in my series of spiritual reflections. I’ll be sharing little glimpses of my daily practices, meditations, and thoughts on the mysteries of spirit. Today’s post is about my early morning meditation.
This morning started early when Harley woke me with his little “wuffing” in the dawn light. After both dogs popped out into the garden, I settled with them on the settee, cup of tea in hand, ready for a quiet meditation.
I chose to work with the Kabbalistic sphere of Gedulah – also called Chesed, or Mercy – the seventh sphere on the Tree of Life if you’re climbing upwards (and as a shaman, I do like to think of myself as a bit of a tree climber!).
The dogs soon curled up beside me, Harley keeping one watchful eye open – a bit like the eternal spirit that always keeps an eye on us. As I sat quietly, sipping tea, I began to focus on the symbols and energies of this sphere, calling on the names of God, the archangel, the angels and the planetary influences connected with it. Gradually, I felt myself surrounded by a wonderful deep purple glow (and no, not the rock band!).
I stayed there for a while, simply resting in that space of love, warmth, and wellbeing. After a time, I began to sense a gentle tug at the edge of my awareness – as if other spheres were calling. Geburah, the sphere of Divine Justice, made itself known, and I acknowledged it briefly. Then Binah, the great sphere of the Mother Goddesses, stirred in my mind.
Binah is a place I’ve often found challenging – many spheres along the Pillar of Severity can be – but today felt different. That, though, is a story for another post!
